Reddish Vale Farm

The structure for each school visit will vary slightly according to the topics being covered with the children in the classroom. The basic plan is outlined below.

Animal varieties

We try to have different breed varieties of each type of farm animal, so that the children can compare and contrast them. We also stock adult animals and their babies, so that the children can see how the animals change as they grow.

Educational objectives

Our main aim when opening the Animal Farm was to educate children living in an urban environment as to the types of animal that live on a farm. We wanted children to understand the needs of the animals, and the amount of care that they require in order to survive. A visit to our farm will hopefully teach the children about the correct manner in which to treat animals, and the amount of time and effort that goes in to producing a fully grown cow/sheep from a calf/lamb etc.
